5/20/2024 NOAAV Attends Grand Opening of 'Unsung Heroes' AAPI Veterans Exhibit at Bob Hope Patriotic Hall

Vietnam War veteran Peter Chow attended the grand opening of a groundbreaking exhibit titled "Unsung Heroes: Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. Military" at Bob Hope Patriotic Hall in downtown Los Angeles on May 20, 2024. This exhibit, launched in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, showcases the significant contributions of AAPI service members throughout American history.

The exhibit features a rich collection of photographs, artifacts, and personal stories of AAPI veterans from various conflicts, spanning from the Civil War to present-day operations. It highlights notable AAPI service members and their remarkable achievements in the face of discrimination and adversity.

Peter Chow was particularly moved by the exhibit's comprehensive portrayal of AAPI military service, including the stories of the legendary 442nd Regimental Combat Team.

The exhibit is a collaborative effort between the Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and the Chinese American Museum, with support from various community partners. It aims to educate visitors about the long and often overlooked history of AAPI contributions to the U.S. military.

This free exhibit will be open to the public at Bob Hope Patriotic Hall (1816 S. Figueroa St., Los Angeles) throughout May, offering an excellent opportunity to learn about and honor AAPI veterans' service and sacrifice. We encourage all NOAAV members to visit and support this important recognition of our community's military heritage.
